About Doug Frates
Doug Frates is the Studio Director of FRATES American Glass. Doug is a former Marine and one of the top art glass makers in the world. He began his glass blowing career under Fritz Dreisbach, who along with Dale Chihuly founded the American Art Studio Glass Movement. Frates studied and apprenticed at the Sonoran Glass Art Academy, AZ, working for important glass artist Tom Philabaum where he produced the designer’s signature paper weights. Frates began his own studio in 2005 and has won numerous awards for his glass design and production.
DUSTIN is an American glass artist and lead apprentice glass blower at FRATES for the last eight years. A native of Finley, OH, DUSTIN originally learned the art of glass blowing from his brother before attending the prestigious Columbus College of Art and Design (CCAD). Dustin left the school to focus on his own artistic journey and to continue his intense study of glass at the FRATES workshop where he is trusted with some of the company’s most complex productions.
