m.a.d. Furniture Design has been selling its range of well designed, affordably priced modern furniture in Europe, Asia and Australia for the past 6 years. For the second year in a row m.a.d. will be exhibiting at ICFF 2016, booth number 2066 (L1).
m.a.d. was founded by partners Matt Cole and Dan Given in 2010. Having spent over 10 years developing and managing other people’s furniture production in Asia, they set up m.a.d. (which stands for “Matt” and “Dan”) to create their own line of furniture for the modern urban dweller. The m.a.d. collection is made up of a range of seating, tables, casegoods and shelving designs, and is currently shipping to over 20 countries worldwide.
In 2011, Mark Daniel joined the team as Creative Director to handle all the product design and curate the collection. Long time friends with Matt and Dan, he has been designing furniture for retailers and factories in the US, Europe and Asia for the past 14 years.
“We were tired of going to factories and seeing design knock-offs and low quality, price-driven furniture,” said Mark Daniel. “We saw an opportunity in the market to come up with original, design-forward furnishings that people could actually afford.”
Leveraging their large network of suppliers, m.a.d. is able to do what many people producing furniture in China cannot; create quality, original furniture designs at affordable prices. Truly and international collaboration, Mark and his design team’s studio is in Chicago and m.a.d.’s manufacturing operations are based in Shenzhen, China. Matt lives in Shenzhen and Dan lives just across the border in Hong Kong. Both speak fluent Mandarin, and are “on the ground” everyday managing production and assuring that all m.a.d. product meets their own high standards.
