Portland, OR, USA – Esque Studio is pleased to return to ICFF NYC launching a new line with a focus on “prêt-a-porter” lighting and matching accessories. 2017 marks the 20-year anniversary of Esque Studio. Looking back on a career punctuated by innovation and imagination and stretching the medium’s functional and technical applications.
The Spring 2017 line debuts at ICFF NYC and is an accumulation of expression and design expertise, highlighting the unique attributes of glass. Each piece focuses on specific aspects of creation that remain a trademark of the Esque brand. Exquisite elegance, focus on detail, mastery of technique, with a punk-luxury lens is the approach; breaking rules and making rules. The line is an overture of objects from accessible to exclusive to suit a variety of styles and scale.
Our work is elevated and challenged by our muse’s and collaborators: Esque + Harry Allen Liason series explores relationships between material and elemental forms. Esque + Cedar & Moss continue to push each other’s designs with a marriage of minimal and organic. Flavor Paper with Boone Speed Photography captures the movement and heat of our material and turns that frozen moment into pattern.
Esque Studio is the result of a 20-year long collaboration between artists Andi Kovel and Justin Parker. The name Esque refers to the suffix meaning “in the manner of”, and is an intentional nod to and acknowledgment of outside influences and inspiration. The two meet at Brooklyn’s UrbanGlass studio, where they worked as artists for hire for leading contemporary artists and designers. Their shared vision and aspiration gave birth to Esque, with the concept of creating modern, functional, concept-based glassware aimed at the design industry and away from the pedestal. Through the years the duo has lead the movement of trend in glass, by breaking the rules and outdated notions of craft and material associated with their medium. Kovel and Parker have risen to international acclaim, most notably by the honor of being named part of Time Magazine’s Design 100: Today’s most influential and inspired international designers. They have designed and completed projects for clients including: Donna Karan, Ralph Lauren, the W Hotel, Hugo Boss, Anthropologie, Sephora, Marmol Radziner, Studio Gang, and Design Within Reach. www.esque-studio.com
